THE FIELD GUIDE

See the word
before it appears.

Three habits that make any letter rack feel less random.

01

START SMALL

Find the common endings

Separate likely endings such as -ING, -ED, -ER, and -LY. The remaining letters often reveal the root.

02

MOVE THE VOWELS

Build a vowel skeleton

Place vowels with one or two gaps between them, then test consonants around that frame. Long words become easier to recognize.

03

LOOK FOR PAIRS

Spot letters that travel together

Try familiar pairs like CH, SH, TH, QU, and ST as temporary blocks, then split them if a trial stalls. QU is useful when a U is available, but some English Q words do not use U.

WORKED EXAMPLES

Five racks,
five useful clues.

Use these examples to check the difference between exact anagrams, shorter matches, wildcard words, and repeated-letter results.

LettersSearch setupExample resultsWhy they fit
LISTENExact 6SILENT · ENLIST · INLETS · TINSELEvery result uses E, I, L, N, S, and T once
GARDENAny lengthDANGER · RANGED · GRADE · DEARLong results first, then useful shorter matches

The examples above are checked against their stated letter inventories. A valid inventory does not guarantee acceptance by a particular game dictionary.

A TRANSPARENT WORD FINDER

What the solver
actually checks.

The result list is produced from explicit rules, not a language-model guess.

01

Normalize the rack

Letters are cleaned, repeats are preserved, and each question mark is recorded as one wildcard.

02

Count every letter

Each candidate is rejected as soon as it needs a fixed letter more often than the rack provides.

03

Rank useful results

Longer matches come first; Core entries receive priority within the same length.

04

Respect the limits

The bundled lists are general references, not replacements for official game dictionaries.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions,
unscrambled.

What is a word unscrambler?+

It checks which dictionary entries can be built from the letters you enter, without using any fixed letter more times than it appears.

What is the difference between a word unscrambler and an anagram solver?+

An exact anagram solver requires every entered letter. A word unscrambler can also return shorter words made from only part of the rack.

Can I use a blank tile?+

Yes. Enter a question mark for each blank or wildcard tile. The solver can use that tile for one missing letter.

Can I search for words of a specific length?+

Yes. Open Options and choose an exact length. You can combine it with known starting letters, endings, or required internal letters.

Why does my game reject a result?+

Games and puzzles use different dictionaries and rules for inflections, regional spellings, abbreviations, and proper nouns. Their official accepted-word list is final.

How are results ordered?+

Longer words appear first. Results of the same length prioritize the Core words subset, then use alphabetical order for stable results. Core is an ESDB inclusion tier, not a measured frequency ranking.

Does Get Unscrambler save my letters?+

No. Normal solving happens in your browser. Favorites, solve count, and daily progress may be stored locally on that device.
